Fourth lay day at Tahiti world surfing

TEAHUPOO Aug 22 2012

A fourth consecutive lay day has been called at the Billabong Pro surfing event in Tahiti, with only small waves on offer at Teahupoo.

"As expected, surf remains small today and we've called a lay day for competition," ASP International head judge Rich Porta said.

"The next few days look like they'll have similar conditions and we're still tracking a model that could provide waves for the last two days of the waiting period.

"We'll be back each day to reassess and make a call then."

Nine Australians are through to the third round.

When competition resumes up first will be two-time world champion and current No.1 Mick Fanning of Australia against Hawaii's Fredrick Patacchia.
